Spotlight on the People of SLN

Elizabeth Neale, Ed.D., Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Neale, a nationally recognized educational leader, is the Founder and CEO of School Leaders Network. She is also currently Co-Chair of Harvard Principals’ Center Advisory Board. She is the former Chair of the Northeast Principals Leadership Network (PLN) at the Educational Laboratory at Brown University and past President of Massachusetts Elementary School Principals’ Association.

Dr. Neale holds an NAESP National Mentoring Certification, participated in the Wallace Funds Leaders Count Forums and was awarded the Wallace Ventures in Leadership Grant.

Dr. Neale earned her B.A. in Political Science from The George Washington University, and her Ed.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Massachusetts. Her doctoral thesis, “The Role of the School Leader in Effective School Change” was published in 1994.

Jody Roy, Vice President, Program and Strategic Partnerships

Ms. Roy has ten years experience in educational leadership designing professional development and curricular programming. She has served as an administrator for a national non-profit charter management organization, Lighthouse Academies, providing leadership training and content development to school leaders in under-resourced communities across the country.

She has written elementary school curriculum for the US market with Houghton Mifflin and for the Indian and Bhutanese market with iDiscoveri. She has studied and taught in the Caribbean in Trinidad and Dominica.

Ms. Roy began her career as a grade two teacher in Washington, DC with Teach for America. She earned an M.E.D. degree in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. cum laude with honors from Colgate University in Economics and Education.

Kristin Jensen, J.D., Vice President, Development

Kristin Jensen joined School Leaders Network in 2009 to help fuel the financial growth of the organization on both regional and national levels. Ms. Jensen has a wealth of expertise in creating new pathways to sustainability and growth, including launching strategic partnerships and funding agreements in the private sector as well as in establishing and maintaining public funding contracts. 

Prior to joining School Leaders Network, she led all corporate and foundation development efforts for Teach For America in Los Angeles, California, where she managed strategy and execution of fundraising efforts and consistently exceeded goals from year to year. She has also served as Director of Strategic Partnerships for Managed Rehabilitation, Inc. in Houston, Texas, where she achieved an excellent track record of success. 

Ms. Jensen graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Advertising and minor in Business. She also earned a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

Nigel Andrews, Board Member

Mr. Andrews has served on SLN’s Board since its inception. He has broad executive experience in operations in both the industrial and financial services industries. As a senior executive at General Electric for 13 years, he was closely engaged in Jack Welch's transformation of the company. In addition, he has worked with the Internet Capital Group, Booz-Allen &Hamilton, Prismatron Productions and Shell International Chemical Corporation. He has BSC degree from the University of Sheffield, England and a MBA from the London Business School.

Ann Berg, SLN Facilitator

Mrs. Berg leads San Antonio Cohort 5 and is the Director of the Trinity University Principals Center (TPC) in San Antonio. Part of the Department of Education, The Center offers outstanding professional development to help school leaders from 24 school districts and five charter and private schools.

A life-long educator, she has been a teacher, a principal, a superintendent, a professor, and has held various leadership positions in regional and state education departments.

Mrs. Berg has worked tirelessly in support of expanding SLN’s presence in San Antonio, acting as the unofficial Regional Director of the SLN Texas Cluster. With her assistance and the financial support of TPC, SLN started with one network in 2006, and 2009 marks the addition of a fifth network, for which she is the SLN Facilitator. She was awarded her Ed. D. degree in Educational Administration, from Nova University, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, 1984, the same year she earned her Superintendent’s Certificate. Mrs. Berg holds her M.Ed. degree in Educational Psychology, University of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii and her B.A. degree in Education, Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio. Her post graduate work includes University of Maryland, Oklahoma State University, University of Colorado, Southwest Texas State University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas at San Antonio and Trinity University. In addition to her work at TPC and for SLN, Mrs. Berg serves on the Board of Directors for Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children and the Brodart Corporation.
